on my journey to healthy relaxed hair in jamaica

The Storm is Over!!! Finally!!!!

Hey HHJ loves I hope all is well, hope everyone is doing good there has been a lot of bad news lately mane I’m praying for the world I have no idea what’s going on but let’s just pray for everyone who needs it and RIP to Michael Brown and Robin Williams and everyone else who has passed away. This news is to update everyone on my protein overload fight and I am proud and glad to say that I have combated it and the storm is over and my hair is back to normal. Now what I have been doing is moisturizing, moisturizing, moisturizing and it has been working so much. I have been using the LCO method on my hair for the past few days and it has put back the moisture in my hair. Now the liquid I use is I took a little spray bottle from my mommy and put some water in it and some EVOO and shook it up and I spray that on to my hair liberally, then I moisturize with my Beautiful Textures Moister Butter Whipped Curl Creme and then sealed with EVOO again. Now I don’t normally use the LCO method unless I’m stretching and my hair feels really really dry but I had to take drastic measures to combat this protein overload and Thank the Lord I have got it underwraps. I couldn’t stand my hair breaking off so much that’s not good for someone who is trying to be on a HHJ. Now going through that I’m a little afraid of protein to go in my hair I really don’t want this to happen to me again so the only proteins I’m going to keep in my hair regimen right now is Coconut Oil and my Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Repair Cream I just love the stuff and I won’t let it go so when I figure something out I will let you guys know about my updated regimen because I am going to add some more new products and try out a sulfate free shampoo or a moisturizing shampoo. I saw this review by Ashley from thehappyhairshow and she did a review on the motions line shampoo, DC everything so I’m gonna give it a try and see how my hair likes it. After I moisturize and seal my hair I put them into four big twists to let the water dry out of my hair, cross wrap it and put on my satin scarf or bonnet and I’m good!! So recapping if you have protein overload get rid of everything protein in your hair regimen don’t throw it away just stop using it on your hair until you get back to the moisture protein balance that’s good for your hair. And then after you get back on track look over your regimen and find ways to add back protein in your hair so you don’t go through protein overload again. Hope this helped someone, I’m thinking about getting layers but I don’t wanna cut my hair but layers look really nice and I love to let my hair down and I hate that it looks so flat and layers will give it volume and dimension in which I want so hopefully I’ll give it a try 🙂
